Great food, great drinks and an amazing interior design. La Fama, a traditional name for a butcher’s shop in Bogotá, meets all the listed requirements.
Hidden in an anonymous tiny street at the famous Chapinero neighborhood in Bogotá, La Fama offers a simple menu filled with flavours from North America`s south, with just the proper touches of Colombian taste. And as usual in most of Bogota’s restaurants, the products are really fresh and the meat is of the highest quality.
We began with a rather strong Margarita that sent us to the moon very easily, just to be returned to our feet by the quality and perfect frying of a plate full of chicharrones (fried pork) beautifully chopped and some spicy chorizos on the side. Then came the Brisket smoked for quite a few hours, I’m not sure how many, but enough to leave an unforgettable taste in my mouth and with the feeling of wanting more, and yet the obligation of behaving like a normal person who eats the right amount of food. To my relief, a gentle soul came to my aid and offered part of his Baby Back Ribbs. And then I was out again in barbecue nirvana. Just a few times have I been so mesmerized by these simple cuts of red meat, so understated in many tables.
A great recommendation for the food, the marvelous margaritas, and the warm and stylish interior design. The service was disappointing, but everything can be forgiven in the paradise where this incredible chicharrones are served.
